Mohawk and DuPont’s Triexta Carpet Fiber | Better than Polyester
According to Mohawk and DuPont, triexta carpet fibers are better than traditional polyester carpet fibers. For this reason, Mohawk and DuPont felt the need to find a way to set their triexta carpet fibers apart from the often negative reputation of polyester carpet fibers. They set out together and petitioned the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for a new textile fiber subclass. After three years of delegation, triexta carpet fiber was recently grouped in a new, official subclass of its own.
The day this happened, March 22nd, 2009 was truly a day of celebration for both Mohawk and DuPont. A new carpet fiber division has not been introduced to the carpet industry since the introduction of nylon in 1959. Triexta carpet fibers boast superior built-in stain resistance that cannot be washed off and are mold-resistant and dry quickly.
For these reasons, carpets like Mohawk’s SmartStrand with DuPont Sorona renewably sourced polymer are both kid friendly and pet friendly.
